Psalm 11:3 (KJV)
The foundation is the structure that
holds the rest of a building. Without the foundation, the walls, the
doors, the windows, and the roof could never be put in place. The
foundation is important even though it is often never seen; its strength
influences a building’s ability to withstand the test of time.
You will be surprised by the number
of believers who are trying to get things done without a foundation or
without the right kind of foundation. Notice that in our text the
Psalmist is saying that the righteous (the born again child of God, the
body of Christ) cannot do much if the foundation is destroyed. To
destroy suggests that the foundation was originally there but somewhere
along the line it was lost. As believers what is our foundation? Upon
what should we build anything we are involved in? My mind goes to John
1:1–3, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and
the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things
were made by him; and without him was not anything made that was made”
(KJV).
Therefore, the foundation of our
faith is the word of God. Today, many are looking for shortcuts. They
are looking for quick fixes. They want magic and not miracles. “Brother
Mike, what is the difference?” you may ask. Miracles are based on the
word of God while magic is not. Miracles stand the test of time but
magic does not. When it comes to magic, the more you look, the less you
see; but when something is a miracle, it stands true and withstands the
onslaught of the devil.
You must therefore re-examine your
life and be honest with yourself. Are you involved in magic or miracles?
Beloved, you must ensure that whatever you are involved in passes
through the filter of God’s word. Then and only then will you be
guaranteed that come what may, when the storm is over, you will still be
standing.
