"And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice."
Genesis 22:16 (KJV)
Yesterday we saw how God revealed Himself as Jehovah Jireh to
Abraham when he rightly positioned himself on mount Moriah as was
instructed by God. You will notice that God did not stop there. When you
read from verse 16 of Genesis chapter 22, you will notice what God did
to reward obedience. God speaking said ''...By myself have I sworn,
saith the Lord, for because thou hast done this thing and hast not
withheld thy son, thine only son: that in blessing I will bless thee,
and in multiplying, I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven,
and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess
the gate of his enemies.
What lesson is there to learn in this story? If Abraham did
not go up to the mountain in obedience to sacrifice his son, he would
never have seen the ram caught in the thicket and he would never have
experienced the Jehovah Jireh God, neither would he have received the
promises that followed. And today we are all Abraham's children.
The question I like to ask is: what are you holding back from
God? Are you in the company of those who hold back their time, money,
talent and resources? What has the Lord demanded from you that you think
is too difficult to give to Him? Beloved, I have come to find out from
reading the scriptures that God is the bigger partner in our
relationship with Him. What do I mean? For everything He demands of you,
He is ready to give you back a hundred fold return. So when you are
faced with the demand, focus on the reward. Nobody gets blessed by
mistake or by accident. Position yourself and you will see God come
through for you. I bless you today in the name of the Lord.
